Obituary for Steven Robert Strain

Steve passed away in his home on Dec 21,2017 in Chelsea, Iowa. Steve grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A celebration of life services will be held at a later date.

He is survived by his wife Barbara of 33 years and his 3 daughters Geri, Rose & husband John, Helene and 8 grand children …Christine, Steven, Joseph, Anna, Christopher & Barbara (Bobbie) Chance, Andrew. And his brother Johnny & wife Ronna and sister Carol & husband Bill. And many nieces and nephews. He is proceeded in death by his father Norman & mother Ruth Strain and brothers Dewayne and Jeff.

Steve joined the Marine Corps after High School and after a while was stationed in 29 Palms where he met and fell love with Barbara. After his time there he packed up Barb (kids) and moved to Iowa and married on Nov 02,1985. Steve loved creating anything and everything out of steel and wood. And when possible was outside until the cows came home … When he became a grandfather, he took that role very seriously …watching over them playing and teaching new things …bad jokes, how to build new things. Steve had a unique sense of humor and loved tell to stories. He could find humor in almost anything and remember childhood antics better than anyone. He made sure that he taught that sense of humor to his children and grandkids.

Steve was in the Marine Corp for 18 years and was a Desert Strom Veteran.
Steve will always be loved and sadly missed for his sense of humor and storytelling.
