Obituary
George E. Penney Sr., 78 of Des Moines, Iowa passed away at his home on Saturday, June 6, 2015 in Des Moines. A celebration of life visitation will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 11:00 am to 4:00 pm at Mallys Park (5792 NE Berwick Dr., Berwick, Iowa).
George was born to Lawrence and Catherine (Howard) Penney in Chicago, Illinois. The family relocated to Des Moines and he attended and graduated from Dowling High School. Following school he joined Baker Electric Inc. and served an apprenticeship to become an electrician. He retired in 1995. George loved his family, his dogs, watching Texas Ranger, fishing, bowling, and bowling in league. He was an active member of St. Josephs Catholic Church and he has a great love for the Lord and his church family.
Those left to remember George are his children, Marie (Ken) Grove, of Des Moines, Iowa, Georgia (Don) Boley of Des Moines, Iowa, Terri (Scott) Hines of Des Moines, Iowa, Kathy (Orlo) Jacobs of Des Moines, Iowa, Mike Penney of Gulfport, Florida, and Tim Penney of Gulfport, Florida; 23 Grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchildren; and brother Glenn Penney.
George was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Lawrence and Burris, sisters Rita and Beverly, and sons Jerry and George Jr.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League in Georges memory.
Celebrate Life Iowa was entrusted with the cremation care.
