Obituary
On Thursday, January 28, 2016 Reta Miller Williams left for her final piano gig in Heaven. Her husband and son beckoned her to come home. A visitation will be on Monday, February 1, 2016 from 1-2 p.m. at Auburn Union Park Masonic Temple (3843 6th Ave, Des Moines, Iowa, 50313). Graveside services will follow the visitation at Avon Cemetery in Carlisle.
Reta was one of eleven children born to Carl and Ivabelle (Hicks) Miller in Motor, Iowa on February 19, 1920. She was born in the year women first got to vote and could have their say. She took full advantage and lived her life accordingly. Reta loved the piano and taught herself how to play at 6 years old in the church basement. She continued to study the piano as well as many other things throughout her life. Reta was a 50 year member of The Eastern Star, 25 year member of VFW, and a volunteer piano player for the Senior Citizens Program. Reta married Wayne Williams in 1941 (deceased 1985). The couple resided in Johnston where they raised their children Marcia and Craig (deceased in 2000).
Those left to her celebrate her life are her daughter, Marcia Biegger; grandchildren Matthew Biegger, Mindi (David) McDonald, Chris Williams, and Mike Williams; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters Ardith Gash, and Chloris Haas; dear friend Lloyd Smith; and of course her beloved piano.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Fluffy Butts Rescue, 503 E. Locust, Des Moines, Iowa, 50309 or directed to the family.
Celebrate Life Iowa has been entrusted with the care of Reta and her family.
