Obituary
Douglas Dean Harrison, 57, of Panora, Iowa passed away in a motor vehicle accident on Friday, January 19, 2018. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Panora Christian Church, 102 East Church Street, in Panora, Iowa with Pastor Gary Freeland officiating. Burial in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery will take place at a later date.
Douglas was born in Gurthrie Center, Iowa on August, 12, 1960 to William and Virginia (Mobley) Harrison. He attended school at Panora Linden High School. After school Douglas join the Army and proudly served his country. Once he was honorably discharged he return to the Panora area. He met and then married Carla Johns. The couple raised their family primarily in Guthrie and Greene County where Douglas worked construction and drove truck. He was a member of the Panora Christian Church, F group in Des Moines, and the American Legion. Douglas had a great love for his family and enjoyed spending time with them, most especially his grandkids. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding motorcycle, traveling, working, being an over the road trucker.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children Jessica Lopez of Orange Grove, TX, Crystal (Josh) Jordan of Scranton, IA, and Dustin (Amanda) Johns of Collins, IA; 16 grandkids; parents William and Virginia Harrison of Panora, IA; brothers Rick (Marla) Harrison of St. Charles, IA, Randy Harrison of Guthrie, IA, and Jeffrey Harrison of Des Moines, IA; an uncle; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, many aunts, and uncles.
