Obituary
Daniel Lee Leach, 67, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away surrounded by his loving family on January 18, 2023. A graveside service will be on Friday, June 16, 2023, at the Iowa Veteran's Cemetery in Van Meter.
Dan was born on August 4, 1955 in Osage, Iowa, to parents Roger and Janet Leach (Cole). Dan grew up in a large family, having seven brothers and sisters. He attended Nashua Highschool and graduated in 1973. Shortly after graduating, Dan chose to serve his country by enlisting in the US Navy. His naval career spanned from 1973 to 1977. Dan also attended college, earning his bachelor's degree in Accounting.
Dan worked most of his life as a truck driver, most recently driving distribution for the US Postal service.
Dan had many hobbies which he enjoyed. Among these were fishing, camping, hunting, golfing, traveling, and watching football and NASCAR.
Dan is preceded in death by his father, Roger, and his grandfather, Robert.
Those left to cherish Dan's memory include his children including his daughter Brandy Leach of Washington, son Jacob (Arielle) Leach of Arizona, daughter Elizabeth Cranston of Iowa, and son Josh (Leana) Leach of Iowa. Dan is also survived by his mother, Janet, as well as his siblings, including his sister Cathy (Tim) of Ohio, sister Peg of Iowa, brother Mark (Karen) of Texas, brother Tom of Michigan, sister Julie (Marty) of Nebraska, brother Marty of North Carolina, and sister Terie of Iowa. Dan also had many grandchildren, including Brandon, Lacey, Trace, Isabelle, Pacifica, Emma, and Ameilia Mae, as well as many nieces and nephews.
At this time, memorial services for Dan are pending. Dan's ashes are to be interred at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter, Iowa, per his wishes.
