Obituary
Janet Faye Doane, 91, passed away August 31, 2024, at Woodlands Creek in Clive, IA. She is survived by son Scott (Terry) Doane of Ankeny, IA, son Greg (Linda) Doane of Highlands Ranch, CO, daughter Kristin Detrick of West Des Moines, IA, and granddaughter Elizabeth Detrick of Des Moines, IA. Janet was preceded in death by her husband Maurice Doane, Jr., parents Charles and Manley Hauswirth, brothers Darvin and Wayne Hauswirth. Janet was born on the family farm in Havelock, IA, on September 25, 1932.
She was raised in a wonderful environment including apple and cherry trees, and livestock such as chickens, cattle, hogs, and kittens that were her playmates.
Janet attended Cornell College and A.I.B. College where she met Maury. They had been married for 64 years. Janet was a loving, caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, football and basketball games (big Iowa State fan), bridge, bowling, golfing, was active at Park Avenue Presbyterian Church, and was a member of the T.T.T. Society. Janet also volunteered with the PTA, Cub Scouts, and Brownies. Janet was an excellent cook and always made holidays special for our family. Janet was the glue for the family and extended relatives.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11am on September 11, 2024, at Unity Church, 414 31st Street, Des Moines. Thank you to Woodlands Creek and UnityPoint Hospice for the loving care they provided to our mother.
Memorial donations may be directed to the Shriners Hospitals for Children (Minneapolis, MN).
