On Tuesday, March 26, 2024, Wendy Settles, 43, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away at Iowa City University Hospitals. Wendy was born on June 5, 1980, to Trish Settles and Tim Settles in Newport News, Virginia. Wendy would do anything for those she loved. She loved her family & siblings, especially her daughter Madlen. Wendy had an extraordinary beauty about her, not only was she an independent spirit, but she was not afraid to speak her mind. She loved animals and had several to include cats, dogs, a rabbit, and lizards! Wendy received her degree in cosmetology in 2003 at La' James College; she loved to do hair and socialize with her clients. She recently worked for DoorDash and enjoyed meeting new people. Her favorite flowers were lilies and roses, but she happily received any sort of flower. Wendy had a couple catch phrases she was known for: "Ding Dong" and "Dork"! Her favorite color was all shades of green. She loved to travel and visit her extended family. Wendy was also a huge sports fan; she loved the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Bears, and especially loved the Chicago Cubs. She loved many genres of music, she wouldn't miss her chance to dance or sing out loud whether it was in the comfort of her home, in the car, or in public.

She was preceded in death by her father Tim Settles, maternal grandparents Elliott & Annabelle Adolphi, paternal grandfather Sonny Settles, great grandmother Helen Settles, great uncle Rick Goins, aunts Mary, Colleen, and Fern; cousins Tristan Adolphi, and Darrell Hinden.

Wendy Settles is survived by daughter Madlen McCabe (Austin Lorenz); mother Trish Settles; grandmother Debbie Settles; siblings Crystal Beverlin (Mike Beverlin), Liz Settles, Amanda Settles and Tim Settles; special friend Josh Johnson. Aunts and Uncles: Gregory & Nancy Adolphi, Eugene & Karen Adolphi, Ann Adolphi, Marcia Ray, Glenna Settles, Stacey Fletcher, Sheila Osteffi, Rodney Settles; Nieces and Nephews: Logan Beverlin, Sebastian Beverlin, Abby Settles, Lydia Settles, Nevaeh Crawshaw, Athens Crawshaw, Gabe Schmidt, great-niece Anna Crawshaw, numerous cousins. Wendy will be laid to rest at a future date in Quincy, IL alongside her father Tim, and grandpa Sonny Settles.

A Celebration of Life will take place on April 20th, 2024, at the Adventure Christian Community, 6509 Northwest Blvd, Davenport, IA, from 12:00pm - 4:00pm.
