Obituary
Danny Brackey, age 65, of Winfield IA, formerly of Mason City IA, died Friday December 27th, 2019 at the Hospice Inpatient Unit in Iowa City, IA.
Born in Forest City, IA to Earl and Bonnie (Escherich) Brackey. In June of 1974, Danny married Cindy Lou Heckethorn. The couple had three children: Brandi Dawn, Danny Ray II, and Joshua Lee Brackey. Danny entered the United States Air Force in January of 1977, and was honorably discharged after 20 years of service in January of 1997. He enjoyed listening to music, singing, and playing the guitar.
Survivors include his three children: Brandi Dawn Carlton, and her husband, Ray, of Highland, Illinois, Danny Ray Brackey II, and his wife Rachel of Mascoutah, Illinois, and Joshua Lee Brackey of St. Charles, Missouri; four granddaughters: Peyton Leigh Guthrie, Audrey Rae Brackey, Presley Shea Carlton, and Madelyn Grace Brackey; one brother: Rick Brackey, and his wife Kim of Durant, Iowa; two sisters: Colleen Brackey of Durant, Iowa and Penny Ledbeter, and her husband Tom, of Charles City, Iowa; two step-sisters: Carolyn Thureson, and her husband Bill of Charles City, Iowa, and Patricia Winters of Delona, Minnesota; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Bonnie, and a step-brother, Rickey Brady.
The family wishes to thank all who, with their support and prayers, helped to make Dan feel comfortable until his entry into Heaven.
Burial at Camp Butler National Cemetery 5063 Camp Butler Rd, Springfield, IL on January 10th 2020 at 2pm. Celebration of Life following immediately after at the VFW 2349 Stockyard Rd, Springfield, IL. Memorials may be sent to 1230 Radcliffe Drive Highland, IL 62249.
