Jeanette Louree (Moore) Starrett
Jeanette passed away at the age of 88 on 6/8/20 at Polk City Nursing & Rehab in Polk City, Iowa due to Alzheimer’s disease. She was born in Des Moines, IA to Tom Moore and Leona (Hines) Moore.
She is survived by a brother, William “Bill” Moore (Ruth), Marietta, GA; two children, Barbara Fellers (Mike), Urbandale, IA, David Starrett (Maureen Wozniak), Springfield, IL; two grandchildren, Tyler Smith (MiJin), Manhattan, KS, Samantha Fausch (Kyle), Baxter, IA; as well as 5 great-grandchildren, a niece, a nephew and 3 cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Jeanette attended high school in Indianola and Emmetsburg, graduating from Emmetsburg, then pursued a teaching degree at Simpson College, where she met, and in 1951 married, Robert Starrett. They moved to Bangor, ME where he was stationed during the Korean Conflict. Later they established a home in Glen Ellyn, IL and started a family by adopting two children, David and Barbara. In 1976 she moved back to Indianola where she was joined by her daughter Barbara.
Jeanette enjoyed cooking, decorating, antiques and hearing about her grandchildren.
Per Jeanette’s wishes, there will be no memorial or graveside service at this time. Arrangements were handled by Celebrate Life Iowa. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Special thanks to everyone at Polk City Nursing & Rehab, and Hospice of the Midwest.
