Obituary
Sherry Beth (Stark) Houk, 62, of Lineville, Iowa, passed away on February 17, 2023, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa. She was born to Orville And Thelma (Orey) Stark on November 7, 1960, in Mercer, Missouri. She grew up with her three sisters and parents on a working farm.
Sherry graduated from North Central Missouri College in Trenton, Missouri with her associate's degree in nursing in 1989. Since becoming a registered nurse, Sherry "Honey" brought comfort and joy to every patient that she helped throughout her 34-year career. Sherry was able to retire from Wayne County Hospital in 2021 but continued to work part-time until her passing.
Sherry had so many joys in life, it would be impossible to list them all. It's safe to say spending time with family was her favorite pastime. Whether it was playing choo-choo trains with Beckett, shopping with Madi, going on many family vacations (Sherry loved any place warm and sunny), or just being at home making sure her family had plenty of sides to go with their main dish, Sherry's happiness came from being there for her family.
Sherry is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, James (who she met after borrowing his car one night and bringing it back a week and a half later); children, Jacob Hamilton of Urbandale, IA, Angela Houk of Ankeny, IA, Ashley (Derek) Accola of Ames, IA; grandchildren: Madalynne Loudon and Beckett Accola. As well as sisters, Jeannie (Billy) Miller and Joni (Brad) Vogel and beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Shelly Hoover.Due to Sherry's known wishes, the family will not be holding any traditional services.
Memorial donations can be made to AHenz57 Pet Rescue & Transport.
