Obituary
Laurel Kay Scott, 81, of Inver Grove Heights, MN, passed away on December 5, 2023.
Laurel was born on May 15, 1942, in Mazeppa, MN, to Joe and Lela Sibley (McDonough). Laurel was a beloved nursing assistant and home care provider throughout her career. Laurel was a fun-loving individual who always had a smile on her face. She had a caring nature and enjoyed taking care of others. She had a zest for life and loved to laugh. Laurel had a passion for travel and exploring new places. She also had a talent for cooking and baking, always whipping up delicious treats for her loved ones. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting, going to garage sales, craft and bake sales , reading, and dancing. In her retirement she enjoyed wintering in Arizona, dancing and dining with her many friends.
Laurel is survived by her loving husband, Bill, her sister Beverly, her daughters Karla (Frank) Turchin, Shannon (Al) Vavra, Renee (John) King, and son Sean. She was a proud grandmother to Christopher Heinkel, Michelle (Brad), Rachel (Tim), Roger (Tricia), Megen (Zac), Bill, Brandon, Cody, David (Erin), Allan (Beth), Matthew, Christopher King, Katelan (Dan). She also had many great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Laurel was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Lela Sibley, her brothers Richard and Ervin Sibley, her brother-in-law Harlan Tweed, and her son Michael Scott.
A celebration of Laurel's life will be held on January 20, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Grace Christian Reformed Church in Inver Grove Heights, MN. A luncheon will follow the service. Please bring your favorite photo of Laurel to display at the celebration.
Laurel will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Her laughter, love, and caring nature will always be remembered.
