Obituary
David Straub Scothorn passed away on December 14, 2023, at the age of sixty. David was born on November 27, 1963, in Indianapolis, Indiana and was raised and resided in Des Moines, Iowa.
David graduated from Dowling Catholic High School in 1983 and enjoyed playing the trumpet in the band. He worked for his father's business for over a decade and brought many smiles to customers and vendors during his tenure. His work ethic was admired by all; with his co-workers being his biggest fans! David's passion and love was with his family, all dogs, his Monte Carlo, Orange Crush, and a really good extra spicy Virgin Bloody Mary.
David endured many health challenges along his journey in life, always managing it with grace, hope, and strength. His mother always told everyone that his life was a blessing for others and one to be treasured. His sense of humor, witty jokes, and laughter could fill a room with smiles. David's family will miss him but rejoices in his newfound freedom to soar and shine like the bright star we all knew him to be.
Survivors include his father, Straub Scothorn; siblings, Kelly Scothorn, Scott (Jennifer) Scothorn; nieces and nephews, Sydney and Zach Scothorn, Maxwell, Joseph, and Teddy Morris; Waggener cousins and their families.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Anne Kerrigan Scothorn.
Funeral services will be held at Holy Trinity Church in Des Moines, Iowa on January 24, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. Burial: Glendale Cemetery, Des Moines Iowa. All are welcome to join the family for visitation after proceedings with a lunch gathering at 3001 Beaver Ave, Des Moines, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that memorials be sent to On With Life, a Neuro Rehabilitation facility in Ankeny, Iowa.
