Obituary
Dorothy Razor, 84, of Des Moines, Iowa, passed away on January 31, 2024. Her graveside service will be held at the Mitchellville Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2024. A luncheon will follow her graveside service.
Dorothy was born on October 20, 1939 in Des Moines, Iowa, to Fredrick White and Phoebe (Drottz) Zook and beloved stepfather Marion Zook. On June 7, 1959, she married Dale Laverne Carmer in Grinnell, Iowa. Dorothy worked as a nurse's aide for over 20 years, in addition to working in the hospitality and restaurant industries.
A love of family and laughter were the center of life for Dort. She very rarely missed a family reunion. She had a blast playing cards, drinking beer, and camping. Her Sundays were often spent cheering on the Packers, Chiefs, or the Iowa Hawkeyes. She also loved to watch cooking shows, and had a love of plants and gardening.
Those left to cherish Dorothy's memory include her children; James (Deanna) Carmer and Irene (Michael) McLain; sister Susan (Joe) Brown and brother Dale (Heather) Zook; grandchildren Shawnda, Kristen, Cassandra, Sarah, and Emily; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandkids, and her nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her siblings Anne Barry, Ronnie Zook, Opal Coldiron, Harlan Zook, Mary Johnson, Fredrick White Jr, and Fred White, as well as several cherished nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Rescue League.
